I’ve traded with Topstep and overall I had a positive experience. One of the biggest things I liked is that the rules and account structure feel professional and well organized compared with a lot of newer prop firms. The platform setup is straightforward, and once you understand the drawdown and payout rules, it’s pretty easy to know what you need to do. I also like that Topstep has been around for a long time in the futures space, which gave me more confidence when trying the firm. For me, the most important thing with any prop firm is having clear rules and being able to focus on trading without constantly worrying about hidden conditions. Topstep does a good job in that area. Overall, I had a solid experience and I think it’s a good option for futures traders who are disciplined, understand risk management, and want a more established prop firm.

Overall, Topstep has been a solid experience for me, and I’d definitely consider using them again.

My overall experience with Topstep has been really positive. Topstep will always be a memorable firm for me. Support is fine, though I rarely run into issues anyway. The country specific Discord servers are very helpful. Payouts are processed quickly now, and I’ve never had a payout rejected. The best thing about the firm is its simple and clear rules as I don't have to spend a lot of time reading the FAQ looking for hidden conditions. I haven't faced any issues so far.

great UI, great platform and great prices. Well established in the prop firm scene. Definitely top choice.

Overall, Topstep is a great firm to trade with, they have significantly more seniority compared to other futures prop firms which allows for more trust throughout the years. However within the last year or so, they've had a multitude of horrendous scandals, the data outages and non compliance from their team/support had dropped their reputation pretty badly especially within instagram trading communities and overall influencer support and their trustpilot ratings quite literally pooped the bed from being consistently considered the #1 prop firm to just above average. Apart from their scandals which were compensated. The rest of the firm's processes and user experiences are pretty good, I personally do think TopstepX/ProjectX is a very amazing platform, in terms of data / accessibility as the order data is very reliable as well as having tradingview integration onto their platform it is pretty easy to customize your platform to your liking as well as offering some useful orderflow tools like time of sale, dom etc, the platform is also quite simple to use and didn't have any issues except the previously mentioned data issues and liquidity issues. Their trading rules are pretty clear keeping the same account rules throughout the evaluation phase then allowing the trader to customize their trading path through a standard flex payout path vs consistency payout process. Although their rules remain simple, they punish their traders during times of volatility, I specifically remember them limiting precious metal contracts to micros only and banning mini precious metal contracts as well as for gas & oil future contracts during times of volatility & war which we do not see happening within other prop firms which lowers their overall user experience as traders are not allowed the versatility and variety of trading contracts which is typically allowed on other firms. Their payout process is simple but they have a tendency to move traders to live if they have too high of a bal.

Top Step was the first Prop Firm that I traded with. They have since grown substantially. I stuck to the 50K trading accounts and was able to trade several funded accounts, but unfortunately never reached a payout with the firm. Since then, I moved to Europe, and Top Step is one of the only prop firms to add an extra 'VAT' fee which steers me to other strong prop firms instead. About a year ago the firm had serious technical issues with their trading platform which they force you to use, TopStepX. You cannot use Tradeovate on Top Step, which I think is unfortunate. Recently they have been dropping 'Labs' offerings which are quite interesting, such as the large 250K eval accounts, or the make 3K withdraw 3K accounts. They are good for the prop space in general due to the way they are pushing new ideas. If they didn't have the high fees I would trade with them again.

Topstep was the first prop firm I ever used and I really liked it. At first I preferred it because I was accustomed to their chart which were easy to use. I had no issues with Topstep, but it wasn't super affordable and they never really offered discounts as well as the activation fee after you passed your eval (this was before they offered an option without an activation fee by the way). I ended up moving on other prop firms for budget reasons, and then I stayed away because technical issues became common at one point and they were changing their rules frequently.

Topstep is reliable. Their support can be hit or miss sometimes but most of the time they accommodate for trading issues. Payouts are on time and the TopstepX platform works well.
